Reggie ville ha onlinespel i New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Om ett par dagar släpps julens stora Wii-titel, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, och alla Nintendo-fans verkar vara mer eller mindre exalterade. Reggie Fils-Aime, chef för Nintendo of America, är inget undantag. Men det var ju det här med onlinespel…

“This was a decision made purely by the developers,” sade han. “They believe this experience, in the same room, to be elbowing your friends and family members as you’re playing the game [is ideal].

“It was really their decision,” fortsatte han. “I personally would have loved for it to be online capable as well, but having played the game, I really can’t fault it for not being online multiplayer.”

Analytiker spår New Super Mario Bros. Wiis försäljning

Jesse Divnich, analytiker hos EEDAR, har förutspått att Nintendos New Super Mario Bros. Wii kommer att säljas i sammanlagt över 15 miljoner exemplar och så småningom bli 2009:s mest sålda spel.

“EEDAR feels comfortable to make the prediction that the New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Wii will be one of the top titles this holiday season,” sade Divnich. “While in the short-term the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 may surpass New Super Mario Bros, in the long-term New Super Mario Bros will easily become the best selling title released in 2009 with expected lifetime sales exceeding 15 million units worldwide.”

Tony Bartel, marknadsföringschef hos spelbutikskedjan GameStop, håller med om att titeln kan bli en av julens största.

“We have high expectations for that title, we think it’s going to be a strong seller for the holiday,” sade Tony Bartel. “It reminds you of those endearing Nintendo titles of old, and anyone who’s played those and really enjoyed them will be flocking to this game. I think we’ll have very strong sales on that title and our reservations do support that.”

Reggie: New Super Mario Bros. Wii ”will outsell Modern Warfare 2″

Reggie Fils-Aime, chef för Nintendo of America, har höga förväntningar på företagets kommande jultitel New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Hur höga? Så här höga:

”It will outsell Modern Warfare 2 on a single platform,” sade han.

Han menar alltså att Mariotiteln kommer att säljas i fler exemplar än antingen Xbox 360- eller PlayStation 3-versionen av Infinity Wards förstapersonsskjutare. Uttalandet gjordes i det senate avsnittet av GameTrailers TV.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii och Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 släpps bägge den 20 november.

Martinet: Nytt Mario-spel är på väg

Charles Martinet, röstskådespelaren för Mario, har avslöjat via Twitter att Nintendo jobbar på ett nytt spel involverande den italienske rörmokaren. Och nej, det är inte Super Mario Galaxy 2 eller New Super Mario Bros. Wii – enligt Martinet handlar det om ett helt nytt, ännu ej utannonserat spel.

“Awesome new Mario Game!” skrev Martinet. ”And it’s not NSMB Wii, and it’s not Galaxy 2, but it’s going to be crazy fun!”

Låt spekulationerna börja.

Miyamoto är ”intresserad” av användargenererat innehåll i Mario-spel

Nintendo-chefen Shigeru Miyamoto har sagt att om tillfället ges skulle han gärna titta närmare på möjligheterna att lägga till användargenererat innehåll á la PlayStation 3-titeln LittleBigPlanet i ett Mario-spel.

“This is an area that I have a lot of interest in, and I think that the side-scrolling Mario games in particular are well suited to that idea,” sade han. “Of course the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series is one that’s made in North America by NST, but it’s one that I’ve been involved in and from early on. We did have a lot of discussions about how to enable that kind of level creation in that series.”

“And I think those types of interactive experiences are going to continue to broaden and we’ll see a lot more user-generated content going forward. I’ve always had an interest in those kinds of creative tools, so I will definitely be open to ideas like that in the future.”

Huruvida onlinestrukturen på Nintendo Wii är tillräckligt robust för något sådant kan diskuteras, men det är intressant att se att Miyamoto håller ögonen på det området.
