Michael Pachter, analytiker hos Wedbush Morgan, har förutspått att Nintendos nästa bärbara konsol kommer att släppas i Japan i slutet av 2010 och i Europa tidigt nästa år. Han tror även att konsolen kommer att kosta motsvarande 250 dollar.
“I expect the device to be available only on eBay for its first couple of months. I think that we Westerners won’t have an opportunity to buy before Christmas, so think that sales by Christmas will be limited to a few million in Japan.”
”I see it having huge success as an upgrade device, with sales likely limited only by supply and price. My best guess is that they will price it around $250/£199/€250, so this may limit demand somewhat, and I doubt that Nintendo will manufacture more than 10 – 15 million the first full year.”
Pachter är inte ensam om åsikten att Nintendo 3DS kommer att nå Nordamerika och Europa först nästa år. För någon månad sedan uppgav flera personer anställda hos olika spelåterförsäljare i Storbritannien att de trodde att konsolen kommer att släppas först under 2011.
Nintendos officiella linje är att konsolen kommer att ha släppts i samtliga territorier före mars 2011.
